Czech guitarist Pavel Steidl will appear at this year’s Uppsala International Guitar Festival, where he will take on two different roles. As a teacher, he will lead a classical guitar masterclass, and he will also perform in concert as a member of the international ensemble European Guitar Quartet.

Pavel Steidl is one of the internationally acclaimed Czech classical guitarists. His professional career began to gain significant momentum after he won the prestigious Radio France International Guitar Competition in Paris in 1982. His artistic work includes, among other things, the performance of 19th-century music on period instruments, and throughout his career he has performed around the world.
The European Guitar Quartet, whose members are Pavel Steidl, Croatian guitarist Zoran Dukić, and German musicians Thomas Fellow and Reentko Dirks, brings together four distinctive musical personalities rooted in the classical guitar tradition while also drawing inspiration from jazz, flamenco, tango and world music. Their repertoire includes works by Bach, Albéniz, Piazzolla and de Falla, alongside contemporary compositions and their own arrangements.
