The REX Animation Festival is back! Don’t miss this year’s 12th edition of Sweden’s largest animated film festival. Once again, it brings the best of contemporary world animation for children and adults alike to the popular venue of Stockholm’s Zita Folkets Bio cinema.
In addition to a program dedicated to screenings of international animated films, audiences can also look forward to various workshops, panel discussions, lectures, and educational projects.
It has become a tradition for the Czech presence to resonate strongly on the festival’s screen. This year, the Czech Republic will be represented by two films:
QUANTUM JUMP – Šimon Mészáros
Šimon Mészáros’s film is a surreal story about the search for one’s own identity, in which a man serving twins in a lavish mansion faces an unknown world beyond the walls of his lifelong conditioning.
Screening: November 25, 2026, in the EUNIC Selection section
JOHUŠ MATUŠ: PAŘEZY – Julie Černá, Lene Lekše
Pařezy, directed by Julie Černá and Lene Lekše, is a music video in which a couple in love stumbles upon a frog during a nighttime stroll—a frog that definitely isn’t interested in their attention. The frog, its baby, and other forest creatures let themselves be carried away by the wild rhythm of electronic music throughout the clip.
Screening: November 28, 2026, in the Animated Music Videos section
