For the 25th year, the Council of Europe is celebrating the European Day of Languages (EDL), an initiative that supports language learning across Europe. It takes place every year on 26 September and is coordinated by the European Centre for Modern Languages in Graz, Austria. Cultural institutes in Stockholm and in other European countries prepare a fun and varied programme for students and anyone interested in learning new languages. Participants can discover the basics of different languages and learn more about what makes each of them unique.
We warmly invite classes from the upper years of compulsory school (högstadiet) and upper-secondary school (gymnasiet) to the European Day of Languages in Stockholm, which will be celebrated this year on Thursday, 1 October 2026, as part of the Language Orientation Café (Språkorienteringscafé) at Finlandhuset in Stockholm. During this roughly 45-minute visit, participants can take part in mini language courses covering around twenty languages, including Czech, French, Latvian, Portuguese, Yiddish, Bulgarian and Armenian. It is a great opportunity to try out new languages and discover something new!
