How do we commune with nature? Do we still consider ourselves to be a part of nature itself? In my work, I tried to represent a certain feeling that I experienced in nature while collecting cattail, a material that we learned how to process. It seemed amazing to me that I am able to provide myself with everything I need for my work in nature in my close surroundings. During the pandemic, at a time of separation from society, I experienced an intense feeling of connection to natural processes and cycles. While weaving with cattail, I was inspired by other objects from natural materials that were usually used in folk ceremonies. I chose a wreath as a form to express my ideas. The motive of the circle expresses the act of embracing, the cyclicality in nature and in the people’s lives. It’s about the eternal cycle of life.

Hur kommunicerar vi med naturen? Betraktar vi oss fortfarande som en del av naturen själv? I mitt verk försökte jag representera en viss känsla jag upplevde i naturen när jag samlade kaveldun. Det verkade fantastiskt för mig att jag kan förse mig själv med allt jag behöver för mitt arbete i naturen i min nära omgivning. Under pandemin, i en tid av separation från samhället, upplevde jag en intensiv känsla av anslutning till naturliga processer och cykler. När jag vävde med kaveldun blev jag inspirerad av andra föremål från naturmaterial som vanligtvis användes i folkliga ceremonier. Jag valde en krans som en form för att uttrycka mina idéer. Motivet med cirkeln uttrycker om den eviga livscykeln.
